And don't get me on dog hair, we have a cross Husky, we are sweeping three times a day at the moment.

He handled the meat then picked up the cheese, perhaps choking him wasn't the accepted method of chastisement, either way I prefer Waitrose.

SCG thinks our belief in free speech is insufficiently robust and she might have a point.  But goddammit, we will die on a battlefield to defend our right to shop at M&S.

I genuinely think my dad would join some kind of terror cell if they stopped him (especially if he still had unspent tokens for the cafe).  He's 81.

How can dogs shed so much hair and not go bald? Why does dust collect on the blades of a fan, shouldn't they blow away? Is the instant anxiety I felt when I heard a tree limb crash to the ground a leftover primal instinct? *Legend of Zelda song stuck in my head* I need to clean out the chicken coop. Lunch.

Personally, I find that my private thoughts when given unbidden to others, can be a source of trouble, and is likely the reason I can no longer shop at Marks & Spencer's or approach within 50 metres of the Baptist church, and although a life of social disapprobation may suit me and in rare cases expand my social circle, (albeit just the Baptist ministers wife, smiling when we meet in the Co-op), I would countenance restraint. However, I do welcome the deliberations of others.

Some dude named John can't read the private messages sent here. I don't think there's a lot of places where that kind of a statement might be relevant, but sometimes the words just spring forth, as if from a muse, and it seems wrong to hide that sort of inspiration from the world.

Announcements / Bunker Updates
Last post by willy - Feb 25, 2025, 01:50 AM
Certain over-aggressive Bunker behaviors have been tempered. Specifically, sending PMs was throwing some error messages, and same goes for some Admin activities. After making some changes to how one of the firewall modules was behaving though, things seem to be under control.

Please use this thread to let me know about times when you feel you have been unfairly sent into solitary confinement inside the Bunker.

Announcements / Brief outage - Feb 20, 2025
Last post by willy - Feb 21, 2025, 12:46 AM
We had a little hiccup today. Long story short, I had to make a change to my power setup and it required powering down my homelab for a few minutes. The event highlighted a change that I'm going to be implementing right away to shorten the downtime in the event of a complete power failure - specifically, I'm going to be ensuring there is a proper boot order set to bring up the WAF server first, and then the forum server right afterward, and both should happen automagically when the host reboots.

For anyone that experienced an outage, my apologies, as this was unannounced.

Henceforth, the Chocolate Factory will be for anything you guys would like to make public for the unwashed masses to peruse, with all the usual caveats about not posting the bad things you already know not to post otherwise I'll have to moderate it and I don't want to moderate. And if we need more boards in this public section, let me know, I'm happy to grow it. In my vision, I saw this public board along with the announcements one to be very sparse, with all the exciting content hidden away inside the chocolate factory, as it were, away from public view unless they happen upon a Golden Ticket.

It's really just so there's a landing page that looks intriguing enough to not abandon the site if you were supposed to find it. But I have been keeping the actual content we post in the less-easily-crawled-and-data-mined section of the factory.
